Williams is one of the world’s leading Formula 1 teams. It exists purely to race in the top echelon of motor racing, where it has been winning Grands Prix for more than three decades. The Williams name has been synonymous with top-level motorsport since the 1960s.

The role:

We are seeking an experienced aerodynamic performance specialist, capable of leading projects that combine the information coming from our state of the art CFD, Wind Tunnel and Driver in the Loop Simulator to advance our understanding of on-track performance and correlation to predictions.

Key operational duties:

  • Lead correlation projects to assess and improve the accuracy of our CFD and Wind Tunnel experiments and progress the methodology.
  • Construct CFD, wind tunnel and track experiments to answer key questions on performance and correlation.
  • Analyse performance and correlation data across environments, from offline car simulations, driver in the loop simulations to track data, wind tunnel and CFD results.
  • Provide guidance to other engineers to ensure successful delivery of all aspects of the aero group’s work.
  • Contribute to the improvement and development of analysis tools for performance data.

Ideal Credentials:

  • Excellent team player and ability to work effectively with other groups.
  • You have a proven track record of analysing aerodynamic performance data from all F1 environments.
  • You have experience of a race car performance optimisation for all aspects from vehicle dynamics to tyre science and aero-elastics
  • You have a thorough understanding of the capability and limitations of the simulation environments available in the F1 industry.
  • You have a degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
