Sales Manager

Set up in 1919, BMTR (Birmingham Motor Tyre Repository) is proud of its history and the fact that it is Birmingham’s oldest tyre supplier. We work today with the same values and still strive to be the best at what we do.The Motorsport department has a proud history that spans from the mid 1960’s and continues today in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

We are now offering this exciting position to support the continued growth of the department. This is a challenging role, where no day is the same, this role will suit a focused and articulate person with a flexible approach to work.

Key Skill Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or have relevant qualifications or extensive relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Motorsport Industry and a keen interest in racing/motorsport vehicles.
  • Willingness to learn, along with being aware of current trends in the market.Problem solving skills
  • To work and travel at weekends both nationally and internationally during the season.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Articulate and confident communicator.
  • Good presentation skills, comfortable delivering technical content to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organisation skills.
  • There will be an element of ‘hands on’ work required, so experience of working in the paddock/pit lane environment would be an advantage.
  • Confidence and assertiveness when dealing with a variety of external agencies and internal stakeholders at different levels.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Full driving license. Ideally with not more than 3 penalty points.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with the Motorsport Manager and other key members of the team to enable the smooth running of the department.
  • Able to guide our customers through our range of tyres to provide the correct tyres for job.
  • Follow through the process by liaising with internal staff and key suppliers.
  • Use of IT Software, Word, Excel, Outlook and Cameo.

Desirable

  • Be able to update our social media campaigns regularly and update the website content.
  • To plan our event calendar with correct staffing levels, correct stock, best price travel and correct vehicles for the event.
  • To lead an on-event trackside service, completing all relevant sales, administration, liaise with customers, teams and potentially governing bodies.
  • Willingness to work at weekends during the motor racing season both nationally and internationally.
  • To be a key member of the BMTR team and enable the department to grow into the future.
