We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Technician to join our R&D Test team. This is a demanding role which will challenge your creativity and commitment. What does an R&D role involve?

  • R&D’s function is to test, measure and investigate all aspects of the mechanical and structural systems of the Aston Martin Formula 1 car.
  • Our input is needed in hugely diverse areas of the car including chassis safety and crash testing, suspension behaviour, power unit systems and cooling, wings, and structural bodywork as well as brakes and driver controls.
  • The role involves carrying out proof testing and legality checking of car components to specified standards
  • Carrying out development work on car components to specified standards
  • Taking responsibility for the build and execution of R&D tests including sensor setup, data logging and the post processing of data
  • Digitally record and document all critical information and data from tests performed in accordance with the test request and specifications then subsequently integrate this information into company systems and formats for reporting and future recall
  • Support requests and test demand as instructed by the R&D Test Manager, liaising with engineers from across the company and keeping key stakeholders informed of progress at each stage
  • You will be supported and trusted by your more experienced colleagues, encouraged to learn and to challenge yourself to your fullest potential.

 

Essential Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of assembly techniques for both small- and large-scale test assemblies
  • Possess a thorough understanding of a range of car components, their purpose and the critical performance and reliability aspects of their behaviour
  • Possess an excellent standard of IT literacy in company PLM systems, Microsoft Excel and Word, ATLAS and System Monitor and other data logging packages
  • Educated to a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant/transferable field
  • Demonstrate honesty, inclusion, and collaboration with fellow team members
