Race Promotions Manager

Job title: Race Promotions Manager 
 
W Series, the ground-breaking motor racing championship for female drivers only, is recruiting a Race Promotions Manager to identify new, and work alongside existing, race venues with the aim of driving value and creating new opportunities to increase the commercialisation of W Series. The ideal person will have significant knowledge of the sports industry, sales experience (ideally motorsport but not essential) and a knowledge of race venues and governing bodies who may be interested in collaborating with W Series.  
 
Race Promotion is a crucial aspect of generating revenue with the commercial operations of W Series, and as such this role will report to Head of Commercial Activity.  
 
Purpose of role:  

  • To identify new race venues and develop a commercial strategy that enables increased revenue from these races 
  • To work alongside new and existing W Series race venues, and any necessary governing body or other external stakeholder to maximise commercial opportunities throughout the W Series race calendar   - To work with the race promoters to strengthen their core operations, to build fan experience, engagement and drive revenues in the local market  

Principal accountabilities:  

  • Responsible for maximising the commercial opportunity within the W Series race markets  
  • At races; grow partnership opportunities, sponsorship and identify fan engagement activities to capture the interest of our ever-growing fan base  
  • Develop a sales strategy with each of the race promoters to make sure all targets across the commercial portfolio are achieved
  • Consistently identify new opportunities for calendar expansion and have the capability to present and deliver these to internal and external stakeholders, whilst building strong relationships
  • Be able to source, close and execute commercial negotiations through to contracting and signature and retain and develop these key accounts  
  • Create and deliver presentations to promoters and brands collaboratively  
  • Manage effective communication from the business to the customer  
  • Inter-department liaison; ensuring the business has an understanding of customer requirements  
  • Provide forecasting and reporting of the status of the business development projects  

Knowledge, skills and experience:  

  • A proven track record in delivering commercial return through sponsorships or sports events   
  • Have a thorough understanding of key components of a major event, including marketing, hospitality, ticketing and the value of IP rights  
  • Experience growing partnerships and retaining high value business  
  • Possess a proven ability to work within a changing and fast paced environment, working across multiple projects and having to prioritise effectively   
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of the customer’s perspective of the sales process  
  • Strong inter-personal skills with experience in presenting to high level stakeholders and creating commercial proposals   
  • A highly self-motivated team player with great enthusiasm and energy who is able to thrive in a results-driven environment  
  • Experience with dealing with government stakeholders  
  • It is essential to have 3+ years of international experience in the sports sales industry and/or sports events industry and have an excellent understanding of sports sponsorship and how rights and assets can be leveraged for mutual benefit within a partnership
