Quality Engineer - Suspension

Purpose of the Role:

Suspension Reliability is essential to our championship winning chances. The appointment of a designated quality engineer to support suspension design, manufacture, assembly and test processes is vital to accelerate and achieve yield improvements at all stages of the suspension lifecycle and enhance consistency of all operations related to the manufacture, assembly and running of the suspension systems.

Role Dimensions:

  • Based at MTC reporting to the Quality Manager; the role will involve travel to suppliers and test facilities.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Lead the suspension FMEA process to prove design at the right time during the design process.
  • Work with the design team and achieve on ways to improve part design for manufacture and capability.
  • Work with a range of suppliers to utilise best practice quality principles during manufacture and help solve non-conformances, improve quality and right first time approach.
  • Work with the inspection department and manufacturing to resolve non-conformances and harness learning for future reference in design for ease of manufacture
  • To help with and drive the decision making process and containment of Trackside car faults with the design team and assembly areas
  • Report all quality concerns directly to appropriate stakeholders and lead drive for resolution
  • Lead problem solving activities for quality concerns and suspension failures
  • Create and deploy inspection control procedures
  • Support the creation and auditing of operational work and check sheets

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Extensive Quality Engineering Experience.
  • Degree in production / mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Skilled in problem solving techniques and auditing
  • In depth knowledge of Carbon Fibre and Metallic manufacture
  • Thorough knowledge of metrology techniques and terminology
  • Experience with technical problem solving essential
  • Experience and knowledge in FMEA & process mapping
  • PC literate with good working knowledge of the MS office suite
  • Team player with a proactive approach
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
