Quality Engineer

  • Position Description: The Quality Engineer will interface mainly with North American customers, suppliers, and various company departments to resolve quality problems and support strategic quality improvement activities. The QE will be responsible to ensure top-notch customer support and product performance through continuous improvement as measured by the customer. The QE will be asked to prepare technical analysis and reports describing quality data and engineering findings to support management decisions; makes recommendations for improving quality.

     

    Position Requirements:

  • Lead and support quality investigations as needed and interface with customers and/or suppliers as required
  • Prepare APQP and customer specific PPAP requirements - control plans, flow changes, and capability
  • Coordinate and respond on time to internal and external customer complaints via official documentation per customer requirements (8D, 3x5W, Ishikawa, etc.)
  • Support quality improvement plans to drive improvements with customers as well as ZF plants
  • Coordinate and support engineering analysis of parts, validation issues. Establish Quality Standards as applicable for product analysis.
  • Prepares summary reports on quality performance and returned material for both management and customer review.
  • Performs gage studies for capability on new or improved processes; investigates root cause analysis; and performs process statistical analysis evaluations and DOE for problem identification.
  • Ability to lead the analysis activities in a product development team as well as interface with non-engineering departments to accomplish product development tasks.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
  • Project management expertise required
  • Knowledge of automotive product development design, electronic hardware development and test
  • Electronic hardware equipment (oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, etc.), soldering, and use of computer-controlled equipment
  • Must be able to work well in a cross-functional environment
  • Candidate preferably is highly motivated and is driven to achieve at a high level
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be capable of handling adversarial situations in an effective manner when needed
  • Candidate will use statistical techniques to problem solve and exploit areas of focus for quality investigations
  • Candidates should be proficient in MS Excel, Power Point, and Word
