Machinist (Prototype)

The position:

We are looking to recruit a Prototype Machinist to join our Prototype Machine Shop. The role involves the manufacture of high specification components primarily using 3 and 5 axis Hurco based machine tools.

The role:

This is a varied role in an exciting environment and to succeed you will need to be adaptable, demonstrate initiative along with the ability to work collaboratively to meet tight deadlines. Also, problem-solving, along with attention to detail and a can-do attitude. With a collaborative approach, good communications and organization skills, you will enjoy working as part of a team and relish a challenge.

Skills you'll use every day:

The successful candidate will have a good level of knowledge around manufacturing technology relating to composite components. Operationally you will ideally have experience with 3 and 5 axis Hurco based machine tools and be able to operate the machines to a high level of accuracy whilst working to tight deadlines. In addition to this, there may be some requirement to program and run Lathes. An understanding of NX CAM would be effective, however training will be offered

Core Skills:

Candidates will possess a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment, take pride in their work and be capable of working with minimum supervision with attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude. They will be required to liaise with other departments such as the Drawing Office; therefore, good written and verbal communication skills are needed to the success of this role. Effective organisation and communication skills are a necessity along with a proactive approach to using procedures that encourage continuous improvement. There will be a requirement to work overtime when workloads are high. A high degree of flexibility, motivation, team ethic and initiative are critical for success in this role. A good understanding of manufacturing small quantity complex components is advantageous.

Shifts available:

For these roles we have a choice of three shifts available:

4 days on, 4 days off

Alternating early/late shift

Nights
