Production Sand Blaster

Cognito is seeking a Production Sand Blaster responsible powder coating to join our Automotive component. Visually and dimensionally inspects completed work for conformance to verbal/written instruction and specifications. Works well as a team member and seeks clarification to refine sand blasting techniques. Applicants must be able to follow specified procedures per Cognito standards.

Essential Functions

  • Operated machinery and cabinet types of abrasive blasting equipment to process small or moderated size metal nonmetal items
  • Applied proper settings, adjustments, and manual application
  • Set up portable units and prepared the work site
  • Used a combination of various amounts of air pressure, multiple mounts, precise angling and accurate distance settings on blasting nozzles for objects having unusual shapes, stubborn contaminants and heavy corrosion
  • Adjusted time traverse setting and made repeat adjustment of turntable movements (forward, swivel, and reverse) for optimum positioning of moderate size or large complex metal or nonmetal assemblies; and extensive or precise nozzle openings and sweeping direction in order to blast over difficult internal or external surface without causing damages to work or injury to workers nearby.
  • Cleaned various types of metals, fiberglass, plastic, and other synthetic material surfaces through use acids, steam cleaners, immersion tanks, ultrasonic methods, brushes, buffers scrapers, sanders, grinders, files and any other tools or processes necessary to remove paint, sludge, grease, carbon, oil, corrosion, rust and hazardous contaminants
  • Complied with all safety requirements
  • Lifted loads of up to 50 pound or more in order to ensure proper removal of undesired particles

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and two years increasingly responsible experience in a powder coating production environment
  • Good working knowledge of packaging, assembly, painting, and production equipment and processes
  • Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization and stock inventory procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Proper forklift operation, safety, and certification

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 5:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Or Night shift Hours are Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 pm

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

Powder coaters must be able to spend extensive duration of time standing or sitting during the scheduled shift. They must be ready and able to bend at the knees and waist, move fingers and hands. Must wear all necessary PPE always.
