An exciting new role has become available for a Performance & Simulation Engineer within the Vehicle Dynamics Group reporting to the Lead VDG Simulation Engineer.

 

As a Performance and Simulation Engineer you will actively develop the F1 car performance through identification of current limitations and effective utilisation of the in-house simulation and analysis tools. Furthermore, you will contribute to the advancement of the simulation technologies in support of the continuous holistic car performance development programme.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To identify and develop solutions to address the performance limitations and weaknesses of the current F1 car, resulting in the delivery of lap time improvements

  • To generate and propose new car concepts that deliver performance differentiation from our competitors

  • To support future car concept development using the appropriate simulation tools and analyses to aid holistic car performance development

  • To contribute to the continuous advancement of the simulation and modelling tools, improving the Team’s ability to analyse and develop vehicle performance

  • To support the advancement of in-house tools and processes by communicating opportunities for enhanced data quality and maximising efficiency

  • To monitor and assess correlation of the vehicle and sub-system models, ensuring validity of simulation results

  • To improve and develop new methodologies for performance analysis in support of objective technical decision making

Candidate Profile:

  • Strong academic background, with a Mechanical, Aeronautical, Engineering Degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar

  • Experience with simulation and performance analysis in Formula One or another top-level motorsport category or an equivalent high-level engineering industry

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to process and infer conclusions from large sets of data

  • Strong appreciation for vehicle dynamics theory and efficient modelling & coding techniques

  • Experience using Matlab and Dymola

  • Ability to work effectively in small, focused teams towards tight deadlines

  • Highly motivated and organised self-starter with excellent communication skills
