Operations Assistant

Gullivers Sports Travel is a leading sports travel provider based in the UK.

The main product offering is focused on Rugby, Cricket & Motorsport as well as several other areas. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work with in the operations team at Gullivers Sports Travel, a leading sports travel provider based in the UK, on a maternity cover fixed term contract.

The Operations Assistant role is an operations role involved in the planning and delivery of events, the customer experience and the event’s profitability. Operations Assistants are responsible for handling handling incoming clients enquiries from the point of sales right through to post travel. Operations Assistants may also take on more junior roles in the delivery of events.

Profile: Hard working, customer focussed operator with strong desire to progress in sports travel/operations roles.

Reports to: Event Manager, also often working under instructions for other Event Managers or Senior Operations Executives/Operations Executives across different sports/products as required by the business.

Objectives and responsibilities include the following:

Key example responsibilities

  • Be first to handle incoming customer calls and respond/direct as appropriate
  • Be first to handle incoming customer emails and respond/direct as appropriate
  • Assist with the creation of client and staff event documentation
  • Contact clients in relation to any unpaid debts
  • Handle Junior tasks as required taking direction from Event Manager
  • Support Senior Operations Executives and Operations Executives as required
  • Assist in the creation of documentation to enable high quality staff briefings
  • Assist Event Manager in ensuring web pages are up to date at all times
  • Responsible for accurate and efficient day to day use of reservations system
  • Support Event Manager in ensuring all Health and Safety and Incident Management

Planning documents are correctly filled out and procedures followed in full

Required skills

  • Applicants should demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in their work while being extremely customer orientated, delivering very high levels of service.
  • Ability to manage their workload effectively, well organised, flexible, determine priorities with attention to detail, act on their own initiative as well as being a strong team player
  • Highly flexible, driven and motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, this may involve working additional hours at peak times including weekends
