NASCAR Test Engineer

Pratt & Miller is seeking an Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and reporting of the Chevrolet Wheel Force track testing program along with supporting the NASCAR engineering group with simulation work.

The ideal candidate will have a background in motorsports performance engineering with experience in track side test execution, data analysis, report writing, tire analysis along with sim tools. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is required and the candidate should possess 5 or more years of experience in the field of motorsports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the NASCAR simulation products. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Track test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting
  • Interface with Chevy Performance, Chevy Key Partner teams on the direction and execution of tests
  • Participate in in-dept analysis for tire data to understand performance trends
  • Utilize Simulation tools to correlate models and perform detailed performance studies
  • Participate in the vehicle model and simulation correlation efforts to ensure accuracy of the supplied simulation products
  • Participate in the design, testing, and troubleshooting of simulation tools for the NASCAR group
  • Provide vehicle dynamics and simulation subject matter expertise to internal Pratt & Miller engineers as well as Pratt & Miller engineering clients

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the above responsibilities, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:

  • Attendance at Pratt & Miller meetings
  • Education / training
  • Provide feedback on PME product needs and processes

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Required Education and Training

  • Pi Toolbox, Motec i2
  • BS or MS in Engineering
  • 3-5 years of track side test execution
  • Programing experience in any of the following languages - Matlab, VBA, Python, R, C, C++

Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Vehicle development experience using simulation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with numerical analysis methods
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, spanning multiple departments and locations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills for communicating with other Pratt & Miller Engineering team members and clients

Preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Track side experience utilizing simulation tools for performance engineering
  • Experience with Driver in the Loop simulators
  • Experience working for a NASCAR team, OEM or supplier

Work Environment/Physical Demands
