Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Precision Engineering

This role will manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers who provide the manufacturing processes / methods and tooling for the fast development of parts and small production runs for the whole spectrum of Engine components across all our motorsport and OEM projects.

The successful candidate will be a natural leader with strong motivational skills, a true coach with the personal drive to improve the business, develop strong teams and build excellent relationships with customers and suppliers. 

Position Overview

  • Instrumental in delivering high performing manufacturing operations and standards.
  • Overseeing the costing of external work, internal equipment and focus on achieving customer expectations and Company standards.
  • Manage resource levels to meet long/short term capacity requirements, planning holiday leave, managing absence, and scheduling overtime cover to ensure on time delivery.
  • Contribute to delivery of cross functional projects.
  • Encourage a continuous improvement culture with employee engagement & involvement throughout the department and championing the achievement of business KPIs
  • Recruit, build and retain a strong performance focussed team. Develop, implement, record and maintain training plans for the departments reviewing opportunities to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Work with Planning /Scheduling management, balancing capacity with demand.
  • In conjunction with the quality department strive to achieve RFT (right first time) and develop actions to improve the quality systems and reduce COPQ and rework while improving internal On-Time Delivery.
  • Effectively manage tooling requirements and costs.

You should demonstrate:

  • Career progression to management level through a precision engineering environment
  • Proven leadership experience - mentoring and developing teams for positive results
  • Knowledge/Experience in Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable, although not essential.
  • Working to ISO9001 / AS9100 would be advantageous as we are Aerospace approved.
  • A problem solver, you need an ability to think on your feet, adapt and make decisions
  • Results oriented with credibility, positivity and decisive in nature.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, an advantage, although training will be provided.
  • An agile and flexible approach to fluctuating workloads
