NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Manager Database Engineering and Data Quality based in Daytona Beach, FL.
The Manager Database Engineering and Data Quality is a multi-disciplined role that oversees and provides directions to data and quality engineers responsible for building systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into, accurate, usable information for BI, analytics and data science development, business and strategic interpretation. This role is also heavily involved in leading future technologies and strategy in NASCAR’s data strategy.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee and provide direction to the data and quality engineers responsible for building systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into, accurate, usable information for BI, analytics and data science development, business and strategic interpretation
- Implement methods to improve data reliability and quality
- Develop architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for business use, predictive and/or prescriptive modeling
- Combine data from multiple disparate data sources to create consistent and machine-readable formats
- Work with product managers and development leads to create testing strategies
- Help create and implement quality processes and requirements
- Travel: 5%
- Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required skills / experience:
- Fifth year college or university program certificate and eight (8) years’ experience and/or training in database engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient on company provided hardware and software
- Extensive SQL experience’ experience in Snowflake a plus
- Extensive experience in creating data pipelines (SSIS, ETL, ELT, API); experience in Matillion a plus
- Experience in dimensional modeling
- Experience working in a Big Data environment, dealing with large diverse data sets and techniques such as data lakes, dimensional models, structured data, semi-structured data, semantic layers
- Ability to read/write Python programming is a plus
- Experience with Tableau and other data visualization tools is a plus
- Detail-oriented with an aptitude for solving unstructured problems
- Able to work in a self-directed environment, own tasks and drive them to completion
- Comfortable being a part of a transparent team where team growth is priority
