Machine Shop Offline Programmer/Setter - Automotive Components

Job purpose

The purpose of this hands-on role in a development team of Machine Shop Technicians to augment effective productivity to meet changing business needs in a developing business environment.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Operate, programme, set including offline CNC milling Machines/3-5 axis Hurco/Mazak.
  2. Hypermill programming software knowledge an advantage.
  3. To follow safety and quality procedures.
  4. Work closely with GTO’s CAD and Quality Engineers to ensure conformance with parts design and quality on new components.
  5. Communicate bottlenecks or other challenges that may impact the machine production schedule.
  6. Communicate and coordinate process flow with other departments.
  7. Constantly look to improve processes and add capabilities.

 

Experience required

The experience required to successfully perform the job includes the following:

  • 5-10 years of relevant Machine Shop experience.
  • Problem solving as this relates to the production of high precision parts.  
  • Staff / apprentice training assistance. 

 

Technical skills and specialized knowledge 

  • Operation of CNC mills and other machine shop equipment
  • Interpret various forms of manufacturing technical drawings.
  • Understanding of geometric tolerancing.
  • CMM machine
  • Handheld inspection equipment including vernier calipers, micrometers, height / bore gauges etc.
  • Development of capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Hypermill programming software advantageous

 

Educational attainment and qualifications  

  • Apprenticeship/ experience in mechanical or auto- mechanical engineering

Salary: £17-£19 per hour.  42.5 hour week 8am-5pm
