General Summary:

Working within the cross-functional PLM Group, this position reports to the PLM Manager or their designee and is located in the Banbury facility. Responsible for digital information related to the service and lifing requirements, the lifing engineer will co-ordinate cross functional reviews using the digital data created, identifying any build, service or lifing issues and feeding these back into the Design Office before parts are released for manufacture. The lifing engineer will also be accountable in ensuring accurate and resolute management of Part Lifing is correctly administered throughout Product Design and Trackside activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Work with the digital build engineer to ensure the car assembly structure is reflected in the lifing system and structured to allow for efficient changes.
  • Ensure lifing identification is being set through the design process and measure/address any non-conformances in doing this.
  • Consider service and lifing requirements and use this to build up Service BoMs.
  • React to parts getting close to life limits and work with PMO and Procurement to ensure associated re-order requirements are being actioned.
  • Ensure that part lifing information is being captured at tests and races and measure/address any non-conformances in doing this.
  • Support the digital build engineer when required to help create parts of the Manufacturing Bill of Process (M-BoP) in line with the order of build precedence.
  • React to changes in M-BoM and M-BoP maintaining the S-BoM in line with these changes.
  • Use the information in the Tooling BoM (Factory and Trackside) to monitor and track tool usage and react to tools getting close to life limits and ensure associated re-order requirements are being actioned.
  • Use M-BoR to challenge completeness of required build/service Tools
  • Support the Manufacturing DMU review providing and relevant lifing and service information to allow for upstream design decisions to be influenced.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the PLM Manager.

Education and Work Experience:

  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Further education including University Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering desired.
  • Preferably 4 years of experience of CAD digital build within an Automotive or Aerospace environment.
  • Prior experience in Formula One is advantageous.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong Technical background in using CAD data in a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Needs to be proactive, flexible, organized and able to prioritize own workload.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Resolute in ensuring completeness of data and chasing down gaps
  • Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products, PLM systems (3DExperience) ERP connection (Microsoft Dynamics AX) and Life Management solutions (Lifecheck)
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations of complex subjects to a diverse audience in an engaging way and agreeing outcomes for resolution.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
