Lead Dyno Test Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Dyno Test Engineering Group. We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer who has the passion and determination to make an impact in the Dyno test engineering field. The role will involve line managing the group of Test Engineers and overseeing test events at Mercedes-AMG Petronas in Brackley.  Working collaboratively with team members you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of the tests to support the requirements of the team. You will thrive working in a fast paced and ever-changing environment and in a role where you will be able to help the on-track car performance and reliability, as well as contribute to the long-term Dyno capability. Key accountability of this role include:

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct line management of the Dyno Test Engineers ensuring development programmes and tasks are in line with the Dyno group requirements

  • Ensure regulatory compliance for test engineering aspects of the FIA Technical, Sporting, and Financial Regulations

  • Senior Engineer for the Dyno Programme akin to the Chief Engineer at the track

  • Prime point of contact for facilitating all Dyno test related issues with HPP

  • Liaison with design and performance engineers for the implementation of test requests into programmes

  • Support maintaining a collaborative inter-departmental relationship between the Dyno, MGP, HPP and Trackside

  • Lead the Dyno test planning function proactively to ensure advanced visibility of hardware requirements

  • Publication of event documentation – test items, run plans, job lists etc. to ensure timely preparation and efficient operation of test events

  • Daily and post event reporting of test results

  • In depth data analysis and the development of software tools (Matlab, Excel, etc.) for transmission, hydraulic, and control systems

  • Set the standards of Calibration and Validation for data quality and ensure this is met

  • Effective reporting and investigating faults as well as implementing countermeasures for Dyno issues

  • Ensure teams understanding of the capabilities and development of dyno-based control systems using PUMA, Matlab, Simulink, and Visual Basic.

  • Creating and maintaining test profiles and ensuring their continual validation against the track

  • Support the enablement for commercial use of the Dyno test facilities

  • Contributing to the continual development of the facility in terms of its future capability opportunities and validation.

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with continual demands and changing priorities

  • Robust communicator, ideally from a motorsport background
