Junior Field Support Engineer

NASCAR is hiring for a Jr Field Support Engineer. This person is responsible for providing race event infrastructure support of NASCAR Venues and work with the Media and Event Technology team on implementation of new technologies. Provides technical assistance to employees at the race events and NASCAR venues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • This position provides support for race event infrastructure/technology and performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems and implements corrective hardware/software solutions.
  • Installs, configures, tests, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs race event hardware/software issues to include the following: fiber, ethernet, routers, computers, tablets, printers, mobile handheld and wireless devices, IP phones, fax/copiers, satellite, AV equipment, and competition officiating platforms.
  • Works with outside Vendors (Answering Question, Troubleshooting,).
  • Ensures all national series credential servers, computers, scanners, credit card machines, and internet devices are operational at all times.
  • Ensures all standard operating procedures are followed and that all major outages are escalated immediately. 
  • Handles race official and end user support requests at race events and works with the Service Desk to help resolve trackside issues.
  • Assists the Track Infrastructure team as necessary to resolve infrastructure problems.
  • Communicates daily with series directors to ensure customer satisfaction and apprises them of any issues.
  • Routinely patches trackside computers.  Maintains accurate inventory of spare hardware and parts on the track haulers.

Travel: 100% including weekends.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in film and post-production; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to support remote offices and transport equipment when necessary.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of I.T & networking principals (VLANs, IEEE 802.11, LLDP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SNMP)
  • Experience with implementation and administration of wireless networking environments with a specialization in Ubiquiti, Cisco, and Juniper networking equipment.
  • Experience with implementation of software-based media solutions deployed on IT/commodity hardware running on various platforms (e.g. Linux, Windows, Serverless).
  • Knowledge of high performance, IT based hardware technology used within the venue or stadium systems environment
  • Knowledge of Public Address System, QAM and IPTV headend/infrastructure, Leaderboard, Digital Signage, LED Video Boards
  • Experience with source code management tools such as GitHub, or Bitbucket for system configurations management.
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Atlassian’s JIRA and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
