Jigs and Fixtures Design Engineer

We are looking to recruit a Jigs and Fixtures Designer to scope, plan, design and release jigs and fixtures to suitable standards, costs and timescales to meet development and production plans laid out by the business.

 

Key assemblies within team include;

 

  • Machining and bonding jigs required to produce all areas of the car
  • Welding jigs
  • Assembly jigs
  • Inspection jigs

Key responsibilities;

  • In conjunction with the Design Groups and End Users, produce jigs and fixtures, to the highest standard whilst working within the, ‘Fit, Form and Function’ methodology.
  • Design, draught and tolerance jigs and fixtures to ensure assembled components can be built to engineering defined tolerances.
  • Supply any build instructions that may be required.
  • Ensure compliance to required delivery dates and report any deviance and the associated causes.
  • Assist with identifying ways to improve the performance of the department and address the wider needs of the various stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive relationships with JFD colleagues and other business departments.
  • Follow the company’s Health and Safety policy and ensure Health and Safety is a consideration in every design.
  • Maintain a high standard of staff and departmental presentation, as appropriate for a world class facility visited by potential sponsors, partners and other VIPs.

The candidate will have an in depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles and have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in a top-level motorsport field. Experience with composite tooling & manufacture would be advantageous. Strong CAD skills are necessary, ideally with experience of NX, however training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.

 

Effective and efficient people management skills are key to this role along with a strong knowledge of contemporary F1 technology and design. An innovative approach to design and strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques is also key to this role.

Applicants should bring a creative, proactive approach to problem-solving, along with good attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
