IT Operations Manager

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

DESCRIPTION

The IT Operations Manager provides leadership to the information technology department while providing oversight and implementing strategic direction. This position also manages IT infrastructure, software applications, cybersecurity, and communications at the National Corvette Museum (NCM).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage various vendors responsible for NCM’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and communications.
  • Manage NCM software applications and components that serve the following functions: POS, eCommerce, member management, library management, digital experiences, marketing, administration, motorsports experiences, desktop productivity, staff collaboration, and web development.
  • Manage IT staff by coaching and training staff members, communicating expectations, and reviewing performance.
  • Establish and maintain information technology policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Evaluate current IT infrastructure and identify technologies to improve security, scalability, and reliability of the overall environment.
  • Research and evaluate new technology techniques, threats, and industry best practices to optimize efficiency and usability and to minimize vulnerabilities.
  • Perform technical support for NCM staff and customers by phone, email, and in person.
  • Assist with creation of department budget by projecting costs, determining necessary adjustments, and reviewing expenditures.
  • Take on other responsibilities and assignments from time to time as requested by management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar required.
  • Five years of experience in IT operations with proven work experience aligned with job responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong technical competence, with the interest and aptitude to learn complex IT systems.
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Deep analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to logically break down a problem into smaller manageable parts to solve.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present complex computing concepts to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Capable of working effectively and efficiently independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Customer advocate, working hard to ensure customer success and satisfaction.
  • Willing to travel as needed.
  • Valid state driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk for one or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move around the Museum and the community.
