International Finance Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a talented finance professional to join the finance team of VI-grade, a fast-growing subsidiary of Spectris plc. The International Finance Manager is a wide-ranging role, reporting to the CFO of VI-grade, performing key accounting and reporting tasks at an operating company level whilst also supporting management of smaller sales entities

Please note that this opportunity would suit someone who is looking potentially for some flexible working both full and part-time candidates will be considered with the potential of mix of home working as well as head office in Egham/Rickmansworth 

Job Purpose
To support VI-grade CFO with operating company reporting whilst managing accounting and reporting for smaller sales entities in UK, USA and Japan. In addition, this position will support the US and UK sales teams in sales administration.

The business has significant growth aspirations driven both organically and through further bolt-on acquisitions and we expect there will be significant opportunity for career progression within VI-grade or the broader Spectris business

Key Responsibilities
Working within the finance department, reporting directly to the CFO, the International Finance Manager will perform the following:

  • Manage the monthly group consolidation process for VI-grade using the Spectris group consolidation system (SAP BPC), performing intercompany matching (within VI-grade and with other Spectris businesses)
  • Perform monthly and annual accounting for US and UK sales entities liaising with in-house experts for Corporation and VAT / sales tax returns as appropriate.
  • Review and challenge the monthly and annual accounting and reporting of the Japanese sales entity
  • Manage treasury activities including monitoring cash levels, determining amounts to pool with Spectris Group,
  • performing foreign exchange exposure analysis, requesting internal Spectris hedges as necessary
  • Manage overhead cost centre reporting and analysis of performance versus plan / forecast
  • Support the US and UK sales team by providing some sales administration support.
  • Manage adhoc projects of implementing group accounting policies including:
  • Revenue recognition per IFRS15
  • Lease accounting per IFRS16
  • R&D cost capitalisation
  • Acquisition accounting
  • Input to and support the continued strengthening of business controls and processes
  • Be a principal contact for internal and external auditors

Finance Manager requirements

  • Minimum 2 years post qualified chartered accountant having trained at a top 8 accounting firm.
  • Experience using both an ERP system as well as a larger group consolidation system.
  • Strong technical IFRS accountant with proven experience in multi-currency consolidation, revenue recognition, and R&D capitalisation. Acquisition accounting experience useful but not necessary
  • High commercial awareness with effective influencing and communication skills as well as strong emotional intelligence.
  • Experience working with international businesses would be helpful, but an awareness of cultural differences is essential.
  • Knowledge of engineering, technology or software desirable but not required

Location
The role is based in Egham, Surrey. There may be some international travel however this is currently expected to be limited. There is likely to be the flexibility to be able to include a mix of home working as well as being office based.
