Intern Ticket Operations Summer 2020

As an Intern at Kentucky Speedway in our Ticketing Department, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in the fields of ticket operations and reporting. This internship will teach the importance of organization, coordination, and communication. You should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained experience in various aspects of ticket sales, ticket back office, and operational event setup.

The internship allows students to network within the motorsports industry and local community while working at one of the premier racing facilities in the United States. By the end of this internship, you will have a better understanding of the process and preparation that goes into planning and working at a race facility. Interns may work up to 40 hours per week and must be available to work extended hours during the race weekend. This is a paid, hourly position at $8.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

Review event setup and pricing setup for approval after it is entered into the ticket system.

Review ticket and camping holds in the system, and enter hold requests into the system.

Maintain supplies needed for mailings, as well as for ticketing needs, i.e. envelopes, ticket stock, postage labels, etc.

Daily reporting for activity and results reports, lead generation, daily call reports and customer feedback.

Maintain, distribute and report on all contracts, ticket requests and comp forms.

Will pull ticket and camping invoices and orchestrate mailing.

Reporting – setup reporting structure - responsible for daily, weekly and monthly ticket reports.

Weekly Reporting for all Sales events, Discount Ticket Reports and Weekly Group Orders.

Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to Director of Ticket Sales & Services.

Other job duties assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

  • College level student majoring in communications, sport management, advertising, marketing, or related fields would be a plus.
  • Desire to start & build a career in the sports industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Previous experience in ticket operations and back office is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong enthusiasm, a professional demeanor & the ability to engage professionally with clients are required.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team setting.
