IndyCar Simulation Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidate will be assigned to support simulation development for the IndyCar program while working as a member of the PME IndyCar race operations group.

  • Vehicle dynamic and aerodynamic trackside support

  • Parametric and multi-body vehicle / sub-system modeling

  • Performance analysis and reporting

  • Development of internal tools and methods

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to the above responsibilities, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:

  • Attendance at Pratt & Miller meetings

  • Education / training

  • Provide feedback on PME product needs and processes

  • Support for off-track testing.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

Required Education and Training:

  • BS in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science

  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in automotive engineering

Required Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the development and application of multi-body simulation models

  • Vehicle dynamics background

  • Good analytical problem solving skills

  • Proficiency with Dymola, Excel, MATLAB, and Pi Toolbox

  • Ability to work independently with little direction

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills for communicating with Pratt & Miller team members and clients

Preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in professional motorsport

  • Experience with race car aerodynamics

  • MATLAB, Python or C++ programming experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Long hours may be required

  • Stress may occur periodically

  • Frequent Travel Required (75+ days / year)
