Head of Technical Matters – Sport Cars and Touring Cars categories

OVERVIEW: 

Reporting directly to the FIA Technical Director and working in close cooperation with the Director of Sport Cars and Touring Cars categories, the candidate will be in charge of the technical matters related to the relevant categories and responsible for:

  • The technical control of the cars
  • The homologation of the cars for competition
  • The specific technical regulations

The candidate’s responsibilities include contributing to the future of related championships by developing ambitious and pragmatic technical solutions to fulfil the strategic and sporting vision of the FIA for these categories.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Head of Technical Matters – Sport Cars and Touring Cars categories will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the FIA Sport Cars and Touring Cars categories technical team, be the reference point on all technical issues, coordinate the team during and outside of race weekends, monitor operational objectives, carry out annual performance reviews, etc.;
  • Be the reference point for teams and other main parties or suppliers regarding current and future Technical Regulations and their implementation. This will include any clarification requests of a technical nature arising during and/or outside of race weekends;
  • In order to fulfil the above responsibilities, the candidate will be required to attend all World Endurance Championship events as Technical Delegate, and selected events of other Championships and Cups of the categories.

He/she will also be responsible for:

  • Preparing and conducting all technical regulation meetings related to the categories;
  • Preparing and coordinating technical working groups dedicated to current or future technical subjects or issues;
  • Supporting the Technical Director and the Director of Sport Cars and Touring Cars categories in:
    -  the preparation and follow-up of the Commissions;
    -  the strategic planning of future Technical and Sporting Regulations.

PROFILE:

  • Significant experience in motor sport (at least 15-20 years)
  • Strong technical qualifications
  • Good knowledge of Circuit categories
  • High degree of sensitivity to cultural differences in the sport
  • Good knowledge of sporting/technical regulations
  • Ability to understand sporting subjects
  • Strong team management skills
  • Very good English skills – written and spoken; French is a plus
  • Strong team spirit and in-depth customer service knowledge
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to work in the strictest confidence with suppliers and teams
  • Ability to handle numerous responsibilities simultaneously
  • Availability and willingness to travel extensively
