HEAD OF ESPORTS

The Head of Esports will lead the overall development of Esports for the FIA, leveraging stakeholders’ inputs and maximising synergies with other initiatives led by the FIA or its partners. He/she will design a strategic, operational and financial plan for further roll-out of the FIA Esports strategy, with a focus on aligning the organisation with the implementation.

The Head of Esports will oversee the organisation and implementation of the FIA Esports International Competitions, leveraging the support and expertise of the FIA’s relevant functions and motor sport / Esports industry stakeholders.

He/she will support cross-functional collaboration and transversal project delivery in the area of Esports.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage the collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Be the main point of contact for all FIA stakeholders and partners for all matters related to Virtual Sports, Sim Racing, Digital Motor Sport and Esports
  • Provide technical, operational and project management support, with a special focus on programme management to all FIA-supported Esports projects
  • Ensure internal cross-functional cooperation and executive alignment
  • Support marketing programme development and delivery around Esports
  • Ensure accountability with regard to all relevant decision-making bodies (Esports Commission, World Motor Sport Council)
  • Manage annual budget and finance reviews related to Esports, in line with the planning and budget processes
  • Develop and maintain material for internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Foster relationships with the people, platforms and audiences driving the evolution of Esports to ensure the FIA is a relevant participant
  • Track and understand industry trends, technology and shifts, with an ability to translate them for the benefit of the FIA
  • Support the definition and delivery of partnerships with platforms, people and technology providers in the Esports space
  • Identify and manage the relationship with external partners and advisers to deliver the agreed strategy
  • Manage the FIA Esports Commission and its working groups (Agenda, Points of Focus, Logistics, Communication)
  • Develop Esports regulatory framework and competition structure

PROFILE :

  • University degree or equivalent in sports management, business, marketing, media and/or entertainment industry
  • Minimum five years of experience leading Esports motor sport teams, working in the media and/or entertainment industry
  • Significant experience working at or directly with gaming publishers/companies from within media / sports / entertainment organisations, with deep understanding of the ecosystem
  • Strong knowledge of motor sport and its industry
  • Experience in sports administration and/or marketing, Esports, or management consulting
  • Knowledge and expertise in working at, or directly with, game publishers and Esports stakeholders
  • Able to work with teams across multiple locations, and interacting directly with internal and external clients to drive results
  • Experience with sim racing is a definite plus
  • Previous knowledge of sporting management of motor sport or other high-level sports is a benefit
  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
  • Highly organised, excellent priority management and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in English and/or French, with strong knowledge of the other language
