Formula E No.1 Mechanic – WAE

Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a No.1 Mechanic to join our Formula E test team on a permanent basis.  Reporting to the Chief Mechanic, this is a key role responsible for the accurate assembly and disassembly of FE cars and equipment whilst guiding and directing junior mechanics day to day. The successful individual will proactively assist the Chief Mechanic to ensure the workload is completed to the correct standard.

Duties include being responsible for the assembly and disassembly of cars and car components, ensuring they are built to the agreed standards and that any discrepancies have been escalated and agreed.

The successful individual will oversee and instruct anyone working on the assigned car or project as required ensuring that cars, components and assemblies are released to approved WAE engineering specifications referencing drawings, technical bulletins and build specs as distributed.  They will also ensure build checklists and build sheets are completed and report all faults to the Chief Mechanic or Chief Designer.

The role is varied; as well as vehicle and component assembly, there will be a requirement to build up and pack down garage and track setup environments, manage parts through the department ready for use following agreed procedures, top up consumables, pack freight as well as ensuring equipment and bays are kept clean and tidy at all times.

To be successful in the role you will be a strong team player and have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as have a flexible attitude towards working hours, a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to solve problems.

The ideal candidate will maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of all equipment and proactively work to maintain and improve the team and personnel performance.  They will be able to maintain positive relationships with all other staff and factory departments and follow and enforce the Company’s health and Safety policy.

Occasional travel to events or external companies will be required.

This is an exciting opportunity to further your career within a high profile and varied position within Williams Advanced Engineering.
