Fixed Asset Accountant

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Fixed Assets Accountant to work in our Daytona Beach, Florida office.

The ideal candidate for the Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for the accounting associated with construction related projects and fixed assets.

Job Responsibilities

Monitors spending related to the Company’s capital projects. Ensures appropriate in-service dates, timing of cash flow, and proper asset classification.

Supports project managers in planning capital projects in compliance with the Company’s capital policy. Updates capital spend management reporting.

Manages business unit requests related to capital spend and fixed assets. Creates and maintain approved projects within the accounting system.

Responsible for additions, disposals and transfers with appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with the Company’s policies.

Allocates labor and interest costs to multiple construction-in-progress assets prior to placing them in service.

Reconciles fixed asset accounts monthly. Ensures all asset transactions are accounted for and depreciation is properly calculated, within the assigned deadlines.

Assists with budgeting and forecasting of capital spend and depreciation.

Provides accurate fixed assets support to external audit requests.

Supports special projects related to fixed assets as needed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus a minimum 1-3 years of related experience. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.   Strong analytical skills and reasoning ability is required.  Ability to identify problems, generate and execute solutions.

Computer Skills

Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products with advance knowledge of excel is required. Experience with fixed asset system/ERP. Experience with Workday highly desirable.

Travel

May be asked to travel on occasion.

Other Skills

Must be able to multi-task and work under pressure with tight deadlines.  Strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills are required. Must be able to communicate at all levels and build and maintain working relationships with business personnel. Must maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.
