Experienced Machinist

Formhalls Vintage and Racing have been producing the highest quality white metal bearings since 1995, with decades of experience among our staff we have restored, repaired and re-manufactured bearings and engine blocks for the world’s greatest cars, historical masterpieces, rally and race cars, aircraft and one or two tractors. There is no job, little or big, we will not undertake or provide unparalleled expertise in the execution of.

We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team who needs to be able to machine engine components from Classic and Vintage cars to a very high standard of accuracy:

Crankshaft grinding                         Cylinder head skimming                Line Boring

Cylinder boring                                 Manual Milling and Turning         Component Manufacture

Our Ideal Machinist:

  • Time served fully qualified machinist/turner
  • Able to operate a range of conventional/manual machines, including lathes and milling machines
  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of cutting different materials, tool selection and speeds and feeds
  • Able to demonstrate accurate use of hand-held measuring equipment, including, micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and dial gauges
  • Capable of self-checking work and to possess high personal standards with respect to Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, and cleanliness

Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday 08.00 to 16.30
  • Friday 08.00 to 16.00

Hours include a 45 minute unpaid lunch break

Holiday:

  • 20 days holiday per year (some of which must be taken at Christmas), plus Bank Holidays

Wage: up to £38,500 per annum, depending on experience and attitude
