Engineering Internship - 12 months

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an intelligent, highly-motivated and proactive individual to join our Engineering team, for a period of 12 months that will see you contribute to our performance and expose you to how a Formula 1 team works.

You will need to be able to use your own initiative, work proactively and often to strict timelines in a high-pressure environment – in what is a demanding but extremely rewarding role.

You will work across each of our core engineering disciplines: aerodynamics (including CFD), design (including mechanical, composite, structural design) and vehicle performance (including vehicle dynamics and simulation) and race operations (race engineering and strategy).

Role Description & Responsibilities

The objective of the role is to contribute to our performance on track, by helping deliver projects in your placement area. We expect you to settle in quickly, such that by the end of the 12 month placement you will have made a contribution that is both useful and rewarding. Placement areas may include:

  • Working in one of our design teams, for example, designing composite or metallic race car components, test rigs or systems to evaluate new parts or concepts.
  • Working in aerodynamics and analysing wind-tunnel or CFD results, assisting in conceptual design and testing of parts.
  • Working in vehicle performance, with our simulator team to operate the simulator and help our drivers prepare for upcoming races, or to analyse possible changes to the car.
  • Working race operations, for example, this may include weekend support from our Mission Control room and supporting is live in our activities at track from Woking.
