Engine Test & Calibration Engineer

Mugen is a name synonymous with engineering at the highest level in World motorsports, having competed in many Championships including Formula 1 and numerous World Championship motorcycle events.
In addition, Mugen is also a 6-time Isle of Man TT winner, and the current lap record holder, in the all-electric TT Zero class.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of M-Tec Co Ltd, of Tokyo, Japan, Mugen Euro Co. Ltd is the European outlet focussed on Motorsport projects, specialising in engine development.

We require a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as an Engine Test & Calibration Engineer, where you will be required to test and calibrate motorcycle and racing car engines to the highest standard.

 

Candidate qualities:

  • Have experience in operation of an engine dyno or similar experience, ideally with direct motorsport and
  • high-performance engine test experience.
  • Have experience of operation of various engine control units.
  • Highly motivated with a conscientious attitude and a passion for detail.
  • Knowledge in the use of engine test and calibration equipment.
  • Able to work consistently to procedures.
  • Able to work unaided and self-managed as part of a small team.
  • Able to work in the UK and travel abroad, if necessary, with no restrictions.
  • Within daily commutable distance of Milton Keynes.
  • Capable to follow and help develop detailed engine test processes.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office and Windows 10 and computer systems.

 

Principle accountabilities:

  • Support activities in the testing of competition racing engines for motorcycles and cars.

  • Prepare engines to be tested on our in-house AC-motor dyno test bed with the help of engine build staff.

  • Learn and follow existing test processes, along with develop and help propose new work efficient processes.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, precision and standards within the engine test area.

  • Provide concise and considered feedback to all departments within the company to further develop the quality of work.

  • Parts management and organisation.

  • Liaison with key associates and clients in Japan and rest of the World.

  • As a member of a small team, and as our business diversifies in various areas, to be flexible in your outlook and integrate with all other parts of the business that might necessitate assistance.
