Electronics Engineer

Summary

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) is looking for an Electronics Engineer, who will oversee the implementation and functioning of electronics control systems across all ACO championships (World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series). This position will involve working with electrical and electronic systems.

Missions

Overall missions and responsibilities

  • Carry out checks of on-car electrical/electronic systems and software for compliance with technical and sporting regulations.

  • Contribute to the development of on- and off-car systems (electrical, electronics, software, data) to support ACO projects.

  • Contribute to regulation and a global vision for future electronic systems.

    On-track duties

  • Support the Technical Delegates with the configuration and verification of electronic and monitoring systems.

  • Analyse car data and provide Technical Delegates with adequate reports and background information.

  • Assist with scrutineering, including electronic and electrical systems, control systems, fuel systems and hydraulic systems.

    Desirable skills

  • An engineering degree or equivalent expert level in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is required.

  • At least five years’ post-graduate experience in motor sport electronics.

  • Electrical and electronic systems, embedded systems, communication buses.

  • Programming in C-code and Matlab/Simulink.

  • ECU calibration, control systems for chassis and powertrain, data analysis.

  • Strong organization and communication skills. A proactive and team player attitude and the ability to work autonomously and in the strictest confidence.

Requirements

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is required

  • Fluency in both spoken and written French is highly desired

  • Willingness to travel extensively (+/- 15 events per year)

  • Desire to work in collaboration with multiple stakeholders: FIA, IMSA, ACO subsidiaries

  • This position can be remote-based, regular travels to our headquarters in Le Mans France are required though
