The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have joined forces with INEOS TEAM UK preparation for the 37th America's Cup in 2024. This project brings together two highly complementary spheres of high-performance, high-technology engineering and sporting challenge.  Since August 2019, team members from our Applied Science division have been dedicated to projects with INEOS TEAM UK, helping to deliver and accelerate performance for what's often referred to as 'Formula One on water'.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an Electro-Mechanical Engineer in the Electronics group.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and delivery of bespoke electronics packaging across a range of projects.

 

Applied Science is the commercial engineering division of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team with the mission to leverage the best motorsport technologies to deliver performance for customers across the domains of land, sea and air.

The role

  • Responsible for design and delivery of bespoke packaging solutions for electronic designs including circuit boards, harnesses and other electro-mechanical parts

  • Collaborating with various design groups to deliver high reliability and innovative solutions to packaging challenges

  • Working closely with PCB designers to package bespoke electronics.

  • Design of bespoke harnesses and harness enclosures

  • Understanding of materials and design techniques for different environmental conditions

  • Knowledge of different manufacturing methods.

  • Knowledge of composite design an advantage

  • Ensuring that enclosures are design to be IP rated as required by customers

  • Reporting project and technical progress to stakeholders

  • Ability to innovate technical packaging solutions

What we’re looking for

  • Mechanical or product design engineering degree or similar

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering electronics packaging solutions in a high-tech industry

  • Communicative and collaborative skills to deliver effective cross departmental integration and results

  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently under a limited supervision to tight deadlines

  • A can-do attitude, proven ability to deliver
