Role Overview
As a digital company that manages the entire car ownership lifecycle through our Apps and Website, providing a highly scalable, fault-tolerant and performant systems is a requirement. This is enabled by engineering excellence and desire to drive technical innovation. As a Director of Software Engineer for Mobile & Web, you will play a key role in realizing class-leading digital product experiences. You will be leading a team of Mobile, Web, and Backend engineers to execute the digital product roadmap, implement scalable and secure infrastructure, research emerging technologies and their potential to support the business, and liaise with the vehicle engineering team.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years leading and scaling engineering teams for consumer and/or B2C products
- Demonstrated ability to be a change agent and influence the direction of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to drive engineering and technology excellence
- Experience with developing mobile & web products, platforms, APIs, and integration with 3rd party services
- Experience implementing the full lifecycle (and technology) for software development and delivery with Agile development practices, continuous integration and refactoring
- Ability to link technology vision and strategy with overall business objectives and communicate rationale in a compelling, concise manner
- Understanding of the current trends in software development architectures (Microservices, APIs, distributed systems), software development languages (Java, NodeJS, AngularJS, ReactJS, JavaScript, etc.), and environments
- Mobile, web and services-based hands on experience
- Experience with AWS Services (EC2, RDS, Route 53, S3, EFS, Cloudfront, Elasticache).
- Knowledge of the planning, launching, and refactoring phases of code
- Experience with progressive mobile & web application frameworks
- Passion for mentorship
Qualifications
- A BS or MS in related field is preferred
- 5+ years of software engineering management experience
