Purpose of the Role: Managing the day-to-day and project-based operations of the Digital Team, pertaining to the production of content, campaigns and digital products for McLaren Racing.The role involves managing a breadth of stakeholders, delivering digital projects and ensuring seamless running and efficiency of day-to-day digital operations across the team. A key role within the team, the Digital Operations Manager ensures the work that is being produced is in line with existing sponsor-partner rights and supports new business acquisition through championing digital and social media.

 Role Dimensions:

This is a maternity cover role within the McLaren Racing’s Digital Team. Some flexibility with working hours may be required to accommodate involvement with a global Grand Prix calendar and/or campaign or product launches.

 Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Support the day-to-day and project-based operations of the Digital team.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage and deliver a broad range of digital projects in line with brand and marketing objectives. Includes developing briefs, resource management and identifying and deploying the correct talent. 
  • Liaise with internal departments, including McLaren IT, Procurement, Finance and Partnership teams to manage day-to-day digital operations, engaging departmental colleagues when necessary.
  • Support the Partnership Development team in leveraging McLaren’s digital and social media channels and packaging digital and social media rights in line with new business opportunities.
  • Ensure that team resource is being applied and recorded in line with variable partner digital and social media rights.
  • Support the Senior Digital Brand Manage in managing the digital budget, including managing the purchase order process and tracking and reporting of digital spend with the Finance team.
  • Manage all third-party digital and social media agencies to ensure that supplier contracts are managed and maintained. 
  • Ensuring robust alignment to rights issues pertaining to digital content and distribution.

 Essential:

  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Understanding of digital and social content, web development, CMS solutions, iOS and Android mobile applications and evolving production techniques used in digital and social media environments.
  • Expert knowledge of the role of digital and social media channels for a premium brand, sports rights holder or sports team.
  • Agency or client-side experience in managing agency / client relationships.  
  • Budget management experience.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects, ensuring that projects are on-brief, on-brand and delivering to deadlines.
  • Ability to engage a variety of stakeholders.

 Desirable:

  • Understanding rights issues pertaining to digital content and distribution.
  • Previous experience working within a digital or social media team.
  • Previous experience working in a real-time, reactive content production environment.
  • Previous experience working for an agency, sports, premium or luxury brand.

  • Excellent communication skills, confident in contributing ideas and working in a collaborative fashion.
  • Demonstrable decision making ability, knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Diplomacy skills in facilitating between creative, digital design/editing and agencies.
  • Excellent ability to grow relationships across internal and external stakeholders, including being able to translate technical terminology to non-digital stakeholders.
