Purpose of the Role:
To develop and maintain high engineering standards and excellence in the design process to support the delivery of the best engineering design solutions for our F1 race car.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Developing Engineering process and standards required for best practice in the F1 environment to support the design and rapid development of the most competitive car
- Engineering drawing and CAD model sign off – to check adherence to engineering standards and that we are producing innovative and reliable designs, cognisant of manufacturing methods
- Oversight of the development and implementation of improvements in design methodology, manufacturing and tooling methods
- Documentation and communication of new standards and methods
- Development and coaching of new and existing engineers to achieve best practice in design
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Highly experienced F1 engineer with a well rounded knowledge of the car, its operating environment and its systems
- Understanding of race car design and systems and their impact on reliability and safety in operation
- Good cross car knowledge and sound appreciation of trackside requirements
- Good recognition in the role that design plays within the wider picture of car development
- Proficient use of CAD design tools and database (previous use of Catia V5 / 3DExp an advantage)
- Familiar with PC and software tools used in the design environment
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
