Design Engineer - RZR Racing

Job Summary

 

Responsible for designing Racing related components and systems from concept to production for the Polaris Race Team.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Component and assembly design, testing, and support for racing. Supporting manufacturing issues with an emphasis on Performance, quality, reliability, and timely delivery.
  • Able to work on a fast past project development schedule from concept to production implementation in line with overall business requirements.
  • Determines ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, Performance, and manufacturing conformance.
  • Analyze existing and new designs to identify and implement performance opportunities.
  • Participates in project design reviews to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.
  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly project status report.
  • Represents the Company at off-road races and test sections.
  • Performs other miscellaneous project-related assignments.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Education

 

  • Required-B.S.M.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • 0-3+ years minimum related design experience (title commensurate with experience)
  • Required experience with a 3-D CAD modeling package. Pro-Engineer ( Creo) preferred
  • Experience with one or more of the following vehicle design categories: Steering and Electronic Power Steering Systems, Chassis design, Welded structures, Bolted joints and fasteners, Packaging, Castings and forgings, Sheet metal, Engines, and associated systems (induction, exhaust, cooling), Suspension systems, Braking systems and wheels, Electrical, Plastics component specification and Accessories
  • Experience in vehicle weight reduction (material, design) and cost reduction preferred.
  • FEA experience and application of FEA in design required.
  • GD&T, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups, technical drawing creation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good strategic vision and business knowledge.
  • High level of people skills, able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
  • Microsoft software, including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Collegiate design series experience preferred (FSAE, BAJA, etc.)
  • Able and willing to lift 50 lbs and work with hand tools and on vehicle assembly.

  • Based out of Wyoming, MN.
  • Race travel and testing expected to other Polaris sites and Dealers as needed (up to 35%).
