Design Analyst

We have a fantastic opportunity for a design analyst to join our fast-paced and growing advanced engineering group.

Reporting to the Head of Gear Technology, you will be responsible for providing quality analytical solutions to support our world-leading products.

You will design and analyse gears, splines, bearings and structural components with respect to strength and durability to meet challenging packaging and loading requirements.

You will also be expected to offer technical solutions for gear and bearing related problems, as well as evaluate gearbox structures with respect to strength and stiffness.

In addition, the position will entail the specification of manufacturing tooling and gauges and liaising with the factory and suppliers when required. Experience with working with gears and rolling element bearings would be an advantage.

You will be interpreting and communicating results as well as offering potential solutions to problems and due to the ever-changing analysis needs, you will also help develop new analysis methods and processes.

You will enjoy being part of a fast-paced and engaging environment and working with a passionate and driven team. You will be bursting with initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach and ability to work to tight deadlines.

You’ll also be comfortable working calmly and constructively in a pressurised priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload.

Knowledge and experience in the analysis of rotating machinery, especially with gears and rolling element bearings would be beneficial.

In addition, experience in the following disciplines would be desirable: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), transmission simulation software, lubrication/fluid flow and vibration and dynamic simulation.

You will have a degree in a mechanical, automotive, aeronautical or similar discipline. Postgraduate degrees such as MEng, MSc and PhD would also be welcome.
