Purpose of role

With a focus on editorial and content management, the Content Editor will be responsible for supporting all areas of editorial content production - including ideation, sub-editing, approving copy and website management - for the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team.

Reporting to the Head of Content, you will support the execution of the overarching Marketing and Brand Strategy across all digital, social, and physical touchpoints, helping to create unique, highly shareable content that engages broad, global audiences while growing the brand, driving fan acquisition, and helping to deliver revenue.

We are looking for an experienced Content Editor who understands the pressures, time sensitivities and ever-changing landscape of sport with experience in the lifestyle or automotive industry being advantageous.

This position lives within the central Marketing team and collaborates with colleagues across Communications, Partnerships and Commercial.

Key responsibilities

You will lead the production of all editorial content for AMCF1, with a particular focus on the website and email channels but also supporting social media communications. Working with writers from an external agency, you will create sub-edit and approve copy while finding new opportunities to tell our unique story through the written word.

You will have a strong understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), writing on-brand eye-catching headlines and possess knowledge of operating various Content Management Systems (CMS). You will have proven experience working within a creative organisation, where everyone is hands-on, and where the focus is on getting the job done. You will have an instinctive knowledge of what a modern and relevant brand feels like and how to engage internal and external teams to deliver it.

  • Management of the overarching marketing content calendar, communicating across a broad group of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Development of specific content plans across individual campaigns.
  • Direct communication with AMCF1 fans via email. Working closely with the Head of Content, Head of Brand Strategy, Head of Audience Development and the wider team to grow, engage and convert a loyal audience.
  • Overseeing the production of first-class written content for the AMCF1 website which will appeal to F1 fans and more widely to sport fans and lifestyle audiences.
  • Putting an AMCF1 spin on relevant trending F1 stories and providing in-depth insight.
  • Managing external writers to ensure a clear process of content planning, development and delivery.
  • Sub-editing copy across all digital, social and offline channels where required.
  • Be a brand guardian ensuring all activation is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice.
  • Develop relationship and engage colleagues in the Aston Martin Lagonda road car business to ensure alignment in marketing, events and editorial calendars.

Success Criteria

Overall, the role will be measured on the continual management and growth of the brand and fanbase, and activation of commercial partnerships in collaboration with the Head of Content. Success criteria includes:

  • Management of BAU content and special projects in line with the Marketing & Brand strategy, as outlined by the CMO.
  • Positive Aston Martin Formula One™ Team brand recognition and consistency across all published channels.
  • Conversion of fans down the funnel, from social media to online to signed-up members.

Experience and Skills Required

The Content Editor will be highly ambitious, creative, and organised. The individual must understand and be able to demonstrate impeccable editorial execution and website management in their experience. With a passion for sports and lifestyle, they will be required to think outside of the box by applying a progressive marketing and customer experience mindset, with the most important aspect being to think fan/customer-first. Specific skills required include;

  • First-class content writing and sub-editing
  • First class knowledge of SEO and of how to get our website found (alt-tags, metadata, CRM)
  • Experience working in both written and audiovisual media
  • Enhance the website experience, bring more traffic to our website, through development of creative and innovative media formats.
  • Elevate our email experience and help us reach and engage more people to sign up for I / AM membership.

  • Operate as the main contact for external agencies who manage the back office and create daily editorial.

This role is on an initial contract basis and based in London. Occasional travel to our factory at Silverstone may be required.
