We have a new opportunity available for a Composite Design Engineer.

 

PURPOSE

 

  • To be an effective part of a team of design engineers responsible for the scheme, design, testing and development stages of varied composite components
  • To actively contribute to the Team’s primary objective of consistently being a top three team in the FIA Constructor’s Championship

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • To provide design schemes from concept stage for component design, assemblies and associated jigs, patterns and tooling
  • To surface components and define laminate specification booklets
  • To provide follow up support on these projects during assembly and testing and development
  • To provide practical solutions to resolve issues arising from testing and development
  • To proactively participate in developing, implementing and improving design concepts
  • To attend and proactively participate in meetings as required
  • To work proactively, responsibly and professionally at all times and to respect and comply with the company’s reporting structure
  • To chair, attend and proactively participate in meetings as required
  • To maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard and maintain thorough and current working knowledge of composite design

 

Skills & Knowledge Required

 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a composite engineering-based discipline
  • Previous experience of producing high level design schemes and detailed drawings of complex assemblies to a demanding schedule
  • Experience of 3D CAD systems ideally with good working knowledge of Catia V5 surfacing
  • Good working knowledge of solid modelling techniques and composite manufacturing techniques using pre-preg technology
  • Relevant design experience in an F1 environment
  • Possess an innovative and flexible approach to creative problem solving, new disciplines and environments
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong analytical approach to all stages of a design project
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales
  • Possess commitment and proven reliability
  • Be results driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic and versatile
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT packages
  • To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and changing environment
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety

 

The role will be based at the Silverstone Factory however there may be a requirement to travel as and when requested to meet the requirements of the Company.
