CAM Programmer

Our operations include an increasing number of bespoke projects, which require a highly-motivated individual with the ability to handle CNC heavy machinery and CAM Programming.

The CAM Programmer will report to the Production Manager, and the role will involve:

  • Work with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, or other materials
  • Preparing programmes for parts in accordance with relevant mechanical specifications and machine input requirements
  • Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings and instruction sheets
  • Troubleshoot and accurately diagnose problems from a manufacturing standpoint. Provide this guidance to individuals or groups
  • Review data and determine materials, work centre, labour and process requirements
  • Make routine decisions with guidance. Understand when to elevate problems or decisions.
  • Resolve issues that occur before or during the manufacturing cycle, recommend changes to peers. These issues may include cost savings measures or more cost-effective methods of manufacturing
  • Make adjustments to control speed, material feed and path of the specific operation, as well as ensuring machines are properly maintained and producing quality products.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they are defect-free and ready for the next step in production
