Circuit Manager

SUMMARY:

In tandem with the Director, F1 Sporting, oversee and manage the build of the F1 circuit to the required standard. Procure all equipment required whether purchased or rented to host a Formula 1 event with supporting races. Manage all aspects of the track operations ensuring all circuit safety and infrastructure is implemented and maintained to the statutory requirements as laid down by the World and National governing bodies; FIA, FOM & ASN.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure that all items and equipment required will be delivered on time for inventory control and deployment within time guidelines and deadlines
  • Coordinate with cross departmental resources to ensure all event requirements are executed to a high standard, within budget and in accordance to client’s expectations
  • Identify and report any potential risks for project delivery deadline
  • Liaise closely with the procurement department to ensure “on-time” delivery of purchased or rented items and equipment
  • Identify potential business partners to leverage outsourced “turnkey” solutions
  • Give complete transparency of progress to all departments for a complete understanding or reaching deadlines and milestones
  • Maintain oversight over race rules, officiation and race control aspects in collaboration with relevant racing bodies
  • Understand and work within critical timelines and deadlines
  • Understand and work with the FIA on procedures and processes for emergency preparedness and incident investigation practices
  • Prepare safety plans in conjunction with the local ASN and medical teams to have total efficiency in the case of an on-track incident
  • Monitors department spend and ensures compliance with annual budget
  • Year on year, develop the schedule for the circuit build, working together with the events and venue operations team to minimize the effect on other event’s but maximising the efficiency of the circuit build
  • Year on year develop a break down plan to least affect the any other event at the venue but maximise the efficiency of the breakdown and the storage of all equipment’s
  • Coordinate with cross departmental resources to ensure all event requirements are executed to a high standard, within budget and in accordance to client’s expectations
  • Maintain oversight over race rules, officiation and race control aspects in collaboration with relevant racing bodies
  • Oversee the allocation and distribution of Circuit officers and marshals for Formula 1, support races and any other racing or circuit event held on the circuit
  • Manage departmental staff including the monitoring and recording of hours worked, approval of leave requests
  • Supporting the creation of departmental policies and procedures documents
  • Setting of annual performance objectives, Key Performance Indicators
  • Initiation of disciplinary procedures in the event of poor performance
  • Work together with the local ASN for training and practice sessions in readiness for Formula 1 and supporting races
  • Circuit painting schedule
  • Circuit cleaning schedule
  • Manage the servicing and maintenance of all circuit related infrastructure including radio systems, track CCTV and rescue equipment
  • Manage race officiation including race rules, deployment of marshals and track officials, including planning resources and physical presence during races and events
  • Prepare documentation and equipment for FIA track inspections, visits by FOM, teams, officials and suppliers
  • Oversee the coordination with all safety officers including emergency services and race control in the event of circuit incidents and or accidents
  • Cross training and work load share with Pit and Paddock operations when and if required
  • Perform any additional tasks required by management in relation to the job

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent spoken and written English essential, Spanish would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of Circuit build from ground up essential
  • Previous experience of running a circuit and manpower during racing events essential
  • Knowledge of motorsports race officiation requirements and management of motorsports events
  • Industrial and technical knowledge of the motorsports industry
  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years in a similar role
  • Excellent computer literacy. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera
  • Willingness to learn and improve

  • Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and prioritize tasks and workload
