Responsibilities

 You will provide overall leadership and coordination for all Chassis Engineering activities - managing direct reports, planning project delivery, reporting on progress, ensuring on time delivery and working to the highest standards possible. This will involve working across technical specialties, adopting new processes and acting as the main point of contact for the Chassis area. Technical, managerial and delivery ownership is expected for the following work streams: 

  • Vehicle dynamics, virtual and physical development
  • Suspension, Chassis Structures, Steering Gear & Columns, Axle Shafts, Brake & Accelerator Pedals, Powertrain Mounts
  • Braking system, including interaction with EV regenerative energy recovery
  • Wheel and Tire
  • Ownership of domain related warranty at a technical target level and deployment of future countermeasures
  • Functional sign off on vehicle for al Chassis systems
  • Provide guidance and inputs for design verification plans
  • Ensure that internal operations and supplier activities are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.
  • Management and coordination of the internal and external project delivery team to ensure products are delivered at target cost and quality - and on time
  • Development and implementation of business plans, technology and R&D plans.
  • You will lead your team in technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Campaign Prevention Process, Robustness, etc.
  • Setting KPIs for each area of your responsibility and reviewing performance with contacts.
  • Performance Management, resource planning and succession planning working closely with HR/Talent Acquisition teams.

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven track record of leadership within Chassis Engineering domain, including:
  • Delivery of high volume vehicle Chassis content over complete vehicle development lifecycle
  • Direct experience in state of the art automotive Chassis domain, specification and delivery
  • Delivering Final Data Judgement and Final Engineering Confirmation
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing large Chassis teams at a high volume OEM
  • Broad understanding of various OEM Vehicle New Product Introduction processes
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building, collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Recognized qualification related to your domain
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. An MS degree is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and globally as required to support supplier development activities and vehicle launch

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run
  • Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals
