Chassis Project Leader

Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):

Chassis Project Leader (Hethel based)

Lotus are in a stage of unprecedented growth with multiple projects being developed by dedicated engineers, designers and manufacturing operations staff. 

To deliver these multiple projects the core engineering group are recruiting an internal Chassis Project Leader to represent the engineering group within the project team. The role will be the single point of contact for Chassis within the project and act as conduit back to the matrixed technical delivery team.

You will work closely with our market leading design teams and highly skilled Programme teams ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and on-spec, meeting defined project deliverables for our next generation Sports Cars.

Role Objectives

  • Lead the engineering project delivery of chassis, suspension, brakes and steering systems into the vehicle for our next generation sports cars.
  • Project responsibility for successful delivery including engineering release, cost, timing and weight.
  • Provide leadership to a matrix team of multi-disciplined engineers with a focus to achieve project milestones for complete vehicle life-cycle within the target time-frame.
  • Project responsibility for verification & validation activities including FMEAs, functionality tests and functional safety throughout the development life-cycle.
  • Project responsibility for problem resolution management of issues to closure.
  • Preparation and presentation of project status information to peers and the Management Team.
  • Tier 1 supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement, Logistics and Quality throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Provision of support and training to Manufacturing, Service and other cross functional departments.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)

Essential

  • Engineering degree or relevant management qualification
  • Vehicle OEM experience or significant experience from automotive tier 1 in a chassis system delivery environment.

  • Occasional travel may be required (e.g. supplier visits, ad-hoc to Warwick office)

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of purchasing and financial control.
