Business Development Manager

Our fast growing motorsport media company is seeking a Business Development Manager to guide our growth strategy over the next few years and beyond. A motorsport background is not necessarily a requirement but a proven record of understanding how B2B sales and marketing works is vital.

Strong negotiating skills with high-value commercial clients in a niche lifestyle sector will be an advantage. Our platforms include website, YouTube channel, podcast, a broad social media presence, live streaming of motoring and motorsport events in the UK, Europe and the USA, and an upcoming TV show.

The business has offices in the UK and in the USA and is keen to develop both markets.

Whilst an early part of the role will be sales, we are seeking someone who will be a significant contributor to the overall direction of the company.

Business Development Manager responsibilities.

  • Learn about the sector in which we operate and understand the triggers to their own marketing initiatives.
  • Research and create a prospect list of potential advertisers and partners across all our current and future platforms.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with all commercial partners and customers.
  • Sell advertising and other commercial partnerships.
  • Be part of a management team which discusses, evaluates and plans current and ongoing strategies for growth and profitability.
  • Constantly seek new and potentially successful initiatives.
  • Collaborate with all parts of the business.
  • Understand our competition and other potential threats to our success and be abreast of industry and sector developments.

Business Development Manager skills and attributes

  • A natural-born communicator
  • Active experience in a sales and marketing role with a proven track record
  • Ability to work alone but also with a strong team ethos. This role will involve primarily working from home but also to attend meetings (either in person or by phone) with our management team near Goodwood race circuit in the south of England.
  • A likeable and personable individual who relates to people from all walks of life.
  • Strategic and professional development skills and an ability to plan both on a micro- and a macro-level.
  • Strong ambition and desire to succeed.
