We are seeking an Apprentice / Trainee Quality Inspector to join our growing quality team who play an intrinsic part in ensuring the quality of parts and components are of the highest standard for build projects and that final products meet the high expectations of our customers. This is a 4-year apprenticeship, upon successful completion we will be looking to offer full time employment.

Our Apprentice/Trainee Quality Inspector will :

  • Manually inspect mechanical components in a variety of metallic and non-metallic materials using hand tools and gauges
  • Check supplied parts have all the relevant quality documents required
  • Inspect complex 3 to 5 axis machined components using the CMM machine
  • Undertake CMM Online / Offline programming using Nikon CMM Manager Software
  • Complete ad-hoc inspection and measurement to engineering requests
  • Create and populate inspection records data in the Inspection Register
  • Generate SCAR (Supplier Corrective Actions) and Concession documents where parts fail to meet the drawings requirements
  • Take measurements of final products whenever required

About You:

  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Engineering and a STEM subject
  • Maths GCSE at grade C (5) or above
  • Science and Engineering qualification at GCSE grade C (5) or above
  • English GCSE at grade C (5) or above
  • You will have basic IT literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, be capable of following instructions and have good manual dexterity. You would ideally have an interest in motorsport.
  • You will receive comprehensive training throughout the apprenticeship which will include Geometrical Tolerancing (GD&T), COSHH, CMM Operation and Programming and other inspection equipment to be used on a daily basis.

Qualifications Taken:

  • Apprenticeship Standard for Propulsion Technician Level 4
  • College attendance - 1 day per week in Year 1 & 2
  • Regular visits from the College into the workplace
  • Observations and assessments in the workplace
  • Use of e-portfolio
  • End Point Assessment
  • Ongoing training and support from the College and employer

This role is for an immediate start however the college course you will join begins in September - you will receive ongoing training throughout your employment with us.
