Role Overview 

 

This role is with the Connected Car and Digital Products team where you’ll be a key member of the Android mobile engineering team working on defining and building next-generation mobility experiences in our consumer facing Android app. The products developed by the teams you work with power Fisker digital journey experiences that are present in the car, on the cloud and in user’s mobile devices. We have a deep focus on the customer, are unafraid to think big, and operate with a Design Thinking and Lean Start-up mindset. 

 

Our ideal candidate has background in delivering multiple apps with a customer-centric mindset with the ability to consistently raise the bar on using modern best practices of Android. You will play a large role working with the design and development teams from concept to commercialization of new mobile products and features. In this role, you will be shipping ground-breaking mobility experiences on Android devices that delight customers, redefine mobility and achieve Fisker’s vision of a clean future for all. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the architecture, design and implementation of consumer facing features in the Fisker App  

  • Architect, design and build compelling in-app experiences that will reach users globally  

  • Collaborate with the product and design teams in influencing the roadmap and product development of Fisker’s App and services   

  • Create and maintain internal shared frameworks and libraries  

  • Shape the future of optimized analytics at Fisker Inc from the ground up with innovative data tools for analytics  

  • Evolve Fisker’s SW architecture to support multiple authentication flows, account management, and integrations  

  • Mentor, collaborate, and learn from innovative and passionate team members 

  • Closely follow best practices in the Android space and strive for continuous enhancement of app experiences 

 

What we are looking for 

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development working for consumer facing applications 

  • 5+ years of experience building and launching high quality Android apps deployed in the Google Play Store 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent training or work experience 

  • Full life cycle experience building applications in Java and/or Kotlin  

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge driving product development and delivering multiple products successfully to the market 

  • Excellent experience working in Agile/Scrum development processes and teams.  

  • Experience in product development at all stages; product ideation, design, prototyping, validation, launch and production.  

  • Strong software engineering foundation and coding skills. Solid understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms 

  • Experience with building public APIs and mobile SDKs 

  • Experience with native Android frameworks  

  • Experience in REST APIs and persisting state  

  • Knowledge of Android Architecture components  

  • Knowledge of the Android SDK performance tools and optimization techniques  

  • Experience building and testing large-scale Android apps and/or codebases  

  • Strong experience in building highly responsive and smooth UI, keeping data fresh in the background and keeping app usage of the battery optimal 

  • Good understanding of Material Design and similar design frameworks 

  • Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile experience is a plus 

  • Experience in integration of cloud messaging APIs and push notifications 

Expected Salary Range: $74,900.00 - $208,650 a year.

Additional compensation: Salary is one part of total compensation which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits. An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker’s equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.

Benefits: Fisker provides comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, vision, and disability insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Fisker covers most of the premiums for employees.

The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity as well as business considerations. Fisker reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position within the salary range listed, taking into account the wide variety of factors listed above.
