AMP Kart Racing - Kart Tuner & Race Shop Mechanic

Job Overview:

AMP Kart Racing is seeking a skillful and experienced kart tuner and kart racing mechanic to work in our race kart workshop.  This position reports to the Parts & Services Manager and includes evening and weekend work - weekend availability is a must, as these are the peak hours for our member services and kart racing business. 

We are looking for a process-driven multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude who will drive efficiency at all levels within the race kart workshop. You will need to be an adaptable team player ready to find solutions and help improve processes. Sales skills and customer billing procedures are essential in this role for the ideal candidate.

A lead mechanic and supervisor role are also an option for the right candidate - this would only be available to someone with the relative experience in both mechanical skills and training, and also in supervision and management of staff.

Compensation: Flat rate, rates are negotiable

Job Description & Duties 

  • Be knowledgeable and experienced in race kart servicing and race kart tuning per manufacturer training and specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance including racking and un-racking of race karts, test and inspect engines, locate malfunctioning and broken parts, verify repairs using diagnostic instruments
  • Maintain constant communication with service writer/parts department regarding work being performed and service items, provide recommendations for potential upgrades and improvements
  • Provide information on new kart part inventory and execute sales to customers for repairs and upgrades, new and used race chassis sales also available
  • Document all maintenance and update service records
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment
  • Must be responsible with company tools & equipment

Requirements:

  • Passion for racing and motorsports that allows you to smile throughout your shift
  • Skills and ability to perform high quality race kart tuning and wrenching for race karts in all classes independently
  • Prior work experience with the service and repair of small engines preferred
  • Ability to routinely perform functions including bending, reaching, turning, climbing and lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Keep a clean work space and shop, and maintain company tools & equipment
  • Working in a variety of seasonal weather conditions - we have indoor workshops and an outdoor track
  • Must be available to work weekends and some select holidays
  • A valid driver’s license
