An Aerodynamics Designer loves the challenge of balancing the tension between working with speed and acute detail. The Aerodynamics Designer is motivated by continual improvement in process and creating outstanding results in collaboration with aerodynamicists.  

The position: Reports to the Lead Aerodynamics Designer or designee. Works closely with model makers and aerodynamicists to continuously evolve performance of aerodynamic test parts and surfaces. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Report to Lead Aerodynamics Designer or designee.
  • CAD surface definition and concept scheming.
  • CAD model part design.
  • Clear communication of task status.
  • Develop workflow automation tools.
  • Follow and maintain safety standards in all venues.
  • Assume any responsibilities delegated by his seniors.

Education and Work Experience:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree is required, as well as at least 3 years of professional engineering experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of and experience with CAD, with expertise in CATIA/3DX.
  • Self-sufficient in planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Use judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to achieve objectives.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and have manual dexterity.  May require repeated bending and squatting.  Able to work long hours and flexible work schedule.  Able to handle stressful situations.  Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  Work environment includes race cars, 7-Post equipment, heavy machinery, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
