The Position 

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced aerodynamicist to join our Aerodynamics department here at Williams Racing in Grove, Oxfordshire. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career and utilise their experience to impact the performance of future Williams F1 race cars. You will use and develop your understanding of race car aerodynamics across all environments (CFD, Wind Tunnel and Track) in order to maximise the long-term aerodynamic performance of the race car.  

 

 

As an Aerodynamicist, you will:  

  • Develop innovative aerodynamic concepts, using appropriate tools and technologies, that enhance our aerodynamic understanding and the performance of the car 

  • Analyse and communicate CFD & Wind Tunnel results, investigating how these results compare to the aerodynamic intents 

  • Work within your team to identify tools, processes and technologies needed to increase our development rate 

  • Assist in the planning and execution of Wind Tunnel tests in our state of the art, on-site testing facility, working to ensure maximum accuracy, efficiency and learning 

  • Create and maintain positive relationships across the department and wider Williams team through clear communication and sharing of information 

 

 

Our ideal Aerodynamicist will have the following: 

  • Experience working within aerodynamics in a fast-paced environment (F1 experience is an advantage, but not essential) 

  • Experience with CFD and Wind Tunnel test techniques 

  • Advanced understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals 

  • Ability to drive outcomes under strict deadlines using problem solving skills and collaboration 

  • Demonstrable experience in understanding the wider context of your work (e.g. correlation investigations, novel use of data, non-standard models/tests) 

  • Willingness to challenge current methods and theories
